How we score casino hotels
Last revised · facts verified
Six criteria, each scored 0–10, combined as a weighted average — so a hotel can't top the list on the strength of one great feature.
| Criterion | Weight |
|---|---|
| Rooms & views | 25% |
| Casino floor | 20% |
| Dining | 20% |
| Shows & events | 15% |
| Pool, spa & fitness | 10% |
| Getting there | 10% |
What each criterion covers
- Rooms & views — room and suite count and range, published sizes, outlook, renovations.
- Casino floor — square footage, slot and table counts, hours, high-limit and poker rooms.
- Dining — variety, a signature restaurant, late-night food, buffet and brunch.
- Shows & events — venue capacity, who's booked, and age rules.
- Pool, spa & fitness — what's actually open now, not what once was.
- Getting there — distances to the airport and downtown, transit, parking.
Source order
First come the hotel's and casino operator's own pages. Next, provincial tourism boards and hotel-brand sites. Last, the press and Wikipedia, which we always credit. If two sources disagree — Hilton Lac-Leamy's room count is the obvious case — you'll see both numbers. If a figure isn't published, we tell you that instead of estimating. Hotel facts in this edition were checked on October 23, 2026; the new-openings page was checked on October 28, 2026.
A plain disclosure: for this edition we didn't stay at the hotels. These are desk reviews of published information.
Money
We aren't paid by hotels, and hotel links are ordinary links. The online casino pages are different: links there to casino sites may be affiliate links, so a sign-up could earn us a commission without costing you anything. That never moves a hotel score, and a spot in the hotel ranking can't be bought.
